Reintroducing a 1960's ice cream hotspot into the modern day with a visual identity centred around nostalgia.

Once a buzzing hotspot in Colombo in the 1960s, Aleric's Piccadilly Cafe was an island favourite for ice cream lovers. As part of the brand's revival under the name Piccadilly Parlour, Alerics set out to reintroduce the beloved spot through a new flagship storefront for the vibrant tourist scene on the south coast. Through extensive research and archival digging, we drew inspiration from retro ice cream parlour signage and vintage aesthetics to create a visual identity that feels contemporary while still honouring the charm of the original cafe, where stepping inside feels like travelling back in time. Soft pastel tones were introduced to reinforce the nostalgic atmosphere, with a warm blue becoming a defining colour across the branding, exterior and interior concepts, to ensure a cohesive identity that brought the revived Piccadilly story to life.

OUR ROLE:

Brand Identity, Illustration

We introduced a retro illustration style to bring to life the brand's heritage, channeling the energy of vintage posters and menus through hand drawn details.

"The team at Studio Nice One guided us through a full brand architecture transformation, helping us refine our identity from the ground up. From day one, the team was highly professional, structured, and incredibly easy to work with. The end result speaks for itself, and we're already seeing the positive impact on how customers perceive and engage with our brand."
